We are the Curran family, Jim, Merica, Jimmy and Josh, Independent Fundamental Baptist missionaries going to the city of Chicago. Yes, that's right, Chicago! Most people do not think of Chicago as a mission field. Most think of Chicago as a typical, although large, Midwestern city. In reality however, Chicago is a vast mission field in desperate need of the Gospel. (One study even listed it as the least evangelzed major American city.) It is also one of the most multicultural cities in the world. Almost every nation on earth is found here in a incredible tapestry of cultures and peoples. The area that we are going to in northeast Chicago, Rogers Park and West Ridge, is probably one of the most diverse in the city (and in the country) It is also bordered by the diverse suburbs of Skokie and Evanston.
Most people in Chicago have yet to hear the message of God's grace and forgiveness for sins through the death of His Son Jesus Christ. Indeed most people in Chicago hope to get to heaven by their works . There are few Gospel preaching churches and even fewer Fundamental Baptist Churches (approximately one per 290,000 people in the city proper.) Despite this great need, God is starting to work in the city of Chicago. Besides the work of the existing churches, there are now several other Independent Baptist church planters. We are currently on deputation raising support. We are sent out by Temple Baptist Church in New Castle, Indiana. Our Mission Board is Baptist Home Missions.
